When I open the keyboard and mouse section, there is not an option to turn this feature on. Is there somewhere else to do it? This tip helped me be able to fully use an ipad pro as both input and screen for my mac mini Luna Display dongle required. Clicking elsewhere on the screen had made the keyboard disappear in the past, but somehow not that time. The box is checked that says that the keyboard viewer is showing in System Preferences, but there is no icon on the menu bar to click on.
I have deselected that check box and reselected it many times and no icon appears. Is there a way to pull it up on the log-in screen? I could get wireless but those are the least ergonomic of all keyboards out there mac I mean. Too small, have to warp your wrists into bad angles. Not good.

An on-screen keyboard looks just like a picture of a keyboard on the screen. Letters can be selected from the keyboard using a mouse, a single switch or a joystick. Note: The following abbreviations for keys on the Mac are used: Ctrl is used for the Control key, Apple is used for the Command key, and Alt is used for the Option key.
Make sure you are in 'Finder'. Click on ' System Preferences ', as shown in Fig 1, or press the down arrow key to highlight it and then press Enter. Fig 1. Fig 2.
In the 'International' window Fig 3 , make sure the ' Input Menu ' tab is selected. To turn the Keyboard Viewer on, tick the box next to ' Keyboard Viewer ' by clicking on it there is no keyboard shortcut for this. Tick the box next to ' Show input menu in menu bar ' by clicking on it. Or press Tab until it is highlighted and then press the Spacebar to tick it.
